Just after 10:00, Metro Police Search and Rescue Units together with Emer-G-Med’s Specialized Rescue Unit were called to the Virginia Beach area after a fishing boat had been seen to have capsized. With the assistance of the South African Police’s Airwing, which luckily happened to be flying over the area at the time and spotted the vessel, resources were coordinated to the shoreline, where a sixty-seven-year-old man was found to have suffered a moderate injury.
He was treated and stabilized on scene, before being taken to a nearby hospital for further assessment and care.
