Koster Police arrested a 20-year-old man in connection with the alleged murder in the early hours of Sunday morning, 8 August 2021, at Redirile Township, Derby near Rustenburg. The suspect’s arrest came after he allegedly stabbed a 20-year-old victim with a knife at a local tavern. According to information, the victim and the suspect who are allegedly members of LVK and Money Lover’s gangs had an argument about gang leadership.
The victim reportedly took out a knife and stabbed the suspect in the head. The suspect allegedly retaliated and subsequently stabbed the victim who died at the scene. Police were called by members of the community and a case of murder was opened leading to the arrest. Investigation into the matter continues and the suspect is expected to appear in the Koster Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 10 August 2021.
The Provincial Commissioner of North West, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena, commended the police and members of the community for their cooperation which led to the arrest.
