An intelligence driven operation was conducted by a SAPS team after allegations surfaced that a suspect was making threats with a firearm to a family at Mqedandaba, in the Amangwe policing precinct.
The information was followed up by the team and they proceeded to the area. On noticing the police arrival the identified suspect and his friends fled in their vehicle. A chase ensued and all four men were arrested.
A search was conducted on all occupants of the vehicle and one firearm with its serial number filed off, two magazines and eleven rounds of ammunition were found in their possession. All four men were immediately arrested and detained at the Escourt police station.
The four suspects, aged between 20 and 32 are expected to appear before Escourt Magistrates Court tomorrow facing charges for being in unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunitions.
