Heightened police visibility was ensured when members of the SAPS drove deep into the localities of Centane on Friday, 24 September 2021.
SAPS Eastern Cape members penetrated the hills into Lusizi Village led by Men For Change to spend Heritage Day Celebrations on the soccer field with young male children.
This location is situated in deep rural area and about 300 kilometres away from the SAPS Provincial Headquarters.
Welcoming SAPS members on the soccer field, the head coach, Mr Vuyisa Cuku mentioned that he spends most of his time bringing the soccer recreational activity to the boys during their spare time. Mr Cuku also said that his dream is to shape the future of the young ones through education and sport.
Addressing the young men, the Men For Change Provincial Champion, Colonel Sivuyile Nqaphi encouraged the children to maintain the high level of discipline and to have dreams for the future.
“In a social context, sports and physical activity have proved to be a positive tool to reduce crime. I encourage you to take part in sport after school. That way you will grow up focused and you will achieve your goals, with knowledge, discipline and education anything is possible” added Colonel Nqaphi.
It was an exciting day for the young ones to see such a number of police officers amongst them. The SAPS Eastern Cape Province was really honoured to form part of the day’s activities and vowed to maintain high police visibility in this area.
