Groceries stolen from an elderly woman’s home during a house break-in were recovered at her neighbor’s residence by Reaction Officers.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call for assistance after a known suspect broke into the 62-year-old female’s home in B Section, Parkgate, KZN. On arrival, the victim informed Officers that she was asleep when she heard her front door being forced open. Out of fear she pretended to be asleep.
A man entered the house and helped himself to groceries. She managed to get a look at him and realized that it was her neighbor. Reaction Officers proceeded to his residence and when questioned the suspect denied having any knowledge of the house break-in and theft. When threatened with arrest the suspect confirmed the female’s version of events and handed her back the stolen groceries.
The victim did not desire a criminal case.
