Crime Intelligence members operationalized information about a burglary in progress at a house in Brown Street, Rheederpark, Welkom. Welkom POP Reaction Team was activated to the scene.
On 24 November 2021, at about 02:00, members of the Welkom POP Reaction Team followed up on information received and were informed that suspects have loaded stolen items inside a sedan vehicle.
The getaway vehicle was followed up to a house in Matsie Street, Las Vegas, Thabong and members kept observation.
The suspects arrived at 05:00 with a silver-grey Toyota Corolla with Free State number plates.
When the driver opened the gate, members pounced on them and requested to search the vehicle with two male occupants still inside the vehicle. Permission was granted. The two occupants were instructed to alight from the vehicle so that a thorough search can be conducted.
Upon a thorough search, various items, suspected to have been stolen during the burglary and housebreaking implements were recovered.
The suspects aged 39, 42, and 52 were arrested and will be charged with possession of suspected stolen items, possession of house-breaking implements. They will soon appear in Welkom Magistrate’s Court.
