Continuous efforts by police to create a safer festive season in the Western Cape led to various arrests for drug and firearm-related crimes in the Delft policing precinct on 24 and 25 November 2021.
On Wednesday, 24 November 2021 at about 09:00, members of the Delft Crime Prevention Unit were conducting patrols when they noticed a female coming out of a known drug outlet. The suspect was searched and found to be in possession of five mandrax half-tablets and was arrested for possession of drugs.
In an unrelated matter, members attached to Operation Lockdown II arrested suspects on Wednesday, 25 November 2021, for various serious crimes in the Western Cape.
Responding to information pertaining to drug dealing, the convoy drove to Modder Street in Leiden, Delft at about 19:30. Upon arrival at the address, they searched the premises and confiscated drugs and cash. Two males aged 23 and 33 were arrested and detained on charges of dealing drugs.
They also operationalized information received and proceeded to a dwelling in Vuka Street in Harare. Upon searching the premises they recovered two firearms and ammunition. Two males, aged 36 and 46, were arrested and detained on a charge of possession of prohibited firearms and ammunition.
Yesterday morning, at 10:05, Delft Crime Prevention Unit members arrested a 23-year-old suspect for possession of a 9mm firearm and one round of ammunition in Sipres Street, Delft South. Another suspect was arrested at about 17:40 by the Anti-Gang Unit at a house in Hunter Street, The Hague. A 9mm pistol and one magazine with 16 rounds of ammunition were found in his possession.
This morning at about 03:30, Anti-Gang Unit members arrested a 22-yea- old suspect for the possession of a firearm and ammunition at a house in Nastergal Street, Roosendaal. The suspect was found in possession of a 9mm pistol with the serial number filed off and eight rounds of ammunition.
Once charged, the suspects will make a court appearance in Bellville and Khayelitsha respectively on the mentioned charges.
