Intoxicated man attempts suicide in Phoenix

A 37-year-old intoxicated man slit his wrist in an attempt to end his life while seated in a community park in Campbells Town, Phoenix.

A member of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) was on patrol in the area when he was flagged down by a passerby requesting assistance for the seriously injured man.

It was established that the male was living on the streets of Phoenix, KZN for the last six months after his wife passed away. Today, he was consuming alcohol when he slit his wrist with a razor blade.

After bleeding extensively he ran into a nearby store. Medics were called to the scene and stabilized the man who begged First Responders to allow him to end his life.

He was transported to a medical facility by ambulance for medical and psychiatric care.
