In an intelligence-driven operation conducted last night, Anti-Gang Unit members confiscated firearms and drugs at a house in Wild Street in Shauderville.
At about 22:40 on Sunday evening, 16/01 police tactically approached the house. The owner of the house, on seeing the police, ran away. While searching the premises, AGU members confiscated a large quantity of drugs and three firearms found in a Wendy house on the premises. Crushed mandrax powder, packets of cocaine, 509 mandrax tablets, cash, tik, 99 prescription tablets (Zanex), 304 rounds of various calibre ammunition and three firearms were seized. The estimated total value of the drugs is R47 150.
Ownership of the firearms is yet to be established. The firearms will be sent to ballistics for analysis.
At this stage, an enquiry docket is open for further investigation.
