The priority by the South African Police Service to keep our communities safe and free of unlicensed firearms yielded positive results when members of the Anti-Gang Unit arrested an adult male for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition in Strand last night, 31 January 2022.
The members followed up on information about a firearm at premises in Strand and searched the premises and found a pistol with ammunition hidden in a cupboard in the house.
Once charged the suspect will appear in the Strand Magistrates court on the mentioned charges.
In an unrelated matter, Delft police arrested three suspects for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition in Main Road Delft earlier today, 01 February 2022. The members were busy with stop and search operations when they stopped a delivery vehicle and searched it. While searching the vehicle the members found a 9mm pistol with ammunition.
The suspects aged 21, 28, and 33 were arrested and detained.
Once charged the trio will make their court appearance in Bellville Magistrates court.
