Mielies hawker robbed in Mawotana

A mielies hawker, his 80-year-old father, and two assistants were robbed by suspects posing as customers in Mawotana – KZN.

The victims were selling mielies out of the back of an Isuzu bakkie when they were approached by seven males posing customers. Some men in the group produced knives while their accomplices searched the victims. They stole cellphones and an undisclosed amount of cash before they fled on foot.

Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were dispatched to the scene. Reaction Officers conducted an extensive search of the area however the robbers evaded arrest.

The victims were not injured.
