Two suspects face charges of possession of suspected stolen livestock following their arrest at Senekal. They have since appeared in court and the case was postponed for bail application.
On 12 March 2022, members of Ventersburg SAPS received information about a suspicious vehicle parked next to Rolbos in Pienaar Street Ventersburg. Members conducted observation as the occupants went to the garage to buy petrol. The occupants were approached when they came back to their vehicle and, asked them about the sheep inside the vehicle. They could not provide the police officers with the necessary documents to be in possession of the livestock.
A preliminary investigation was conducted and it was found that the six sheep were stolen at Senekal and there were also brand marks on the sheep.
The two suspects were arrested and their vehicle was also seized. The farmer of Senekal was contacted and came to identify his sheep. The sheep were handed back to the owner.
The two suspects, aged 33 and 41 years, were arrested and charged with possession of suspected stolen livestock. They appeared in the Ventersburg Magistrates Court on 14 March 2022 and the case was postponed for a bail application on 21 March 2022.
