A 44-year-old suspect was arrested in Bryanston on Wednesday, 16 March 2022 for the unlawful possession of metal (gold) following a joint intelligence-driven operation.
Information was received on a man who allegedly deals with precious metals and an investigation was lodged. A team comprising of detectives from Gauteng Organised Crime Investigations (OCI) and Germiston Organised Crime Investigations (OCI) followed up on the information.
The information led the team to an address in Bryanston where the suspect’s vehicle was intercepted. A search led the detectives to recover concentrated gold dust, a money counting machine, a gold testing machine, scales, and various other items.
The suspect is expected to appear before court soon.
