On Friday, 25 March 2022, police officers from Provincial Drug and Firearm Unit conducted an operation in Mariannridge. An early morning takedown, conducted at Gemini Way, led to the successful arrest of a 31-year-old man. The suspect was found in possession of 460 boss mandrax tablets. The drugs are valued at R32 200-00.
A follow-up investigation was conducted at Point area. The investigation led the team to one of the flats in Mahatma Ghandi Street where a 24-year-old man was arrested afther he was found in possession of eight plastic bags of Methcathinone and four plastic straws of crystal meth.
The recovered drugs are valued at R4000-00. The total value of the recovered drugs in the operation are valued at R36 200-00.
The suspects will appear before the Durban and Pinetown Magistrate’s Courts respectively on Monday, 28 March 2022, for possession of drugs.
