The determination by members of Steenberg police to rid the community of unlicensed firearms led to the arrest of a 35-year-old male for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition in Fawley Court Lavender Hill, yesterday afternoon.
The members were busy with patrols in the area due to ongoing gang violence when they spotted a male who started to run when he saw the marked police vehicle approaching. The suspect was apprehended and found in possession of a 9mm pistol with ammunition.
The suspect is due to make a court appearance in the Wynberg Magistrate’s court once he has been charged.
