A 23-year-old male who was arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol on November 21st, 2021 is being extorted for R15 000 by a Policeman threatening to have him re-arrested.
The Dawncrest – Verulam resident was arrested on the scene approx 5 months ago when he collided with a light motor vehicle. Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) and the South African Police attended the scene on Ocean Way – Dawncrest. The intoxicated driver was arrested and later released on bail.
On Friday, March 25th, 2022 the charges against the accused were provisionally withdrawn at the Verulam Magistrates Court after the State failed to produce the blood test results.
Earlier today (4 April 2022) the accused received a Watsapp message from a man identifying himself as a Colonel from the South African Police informing him that he had received the blood/alcohol test results and the matter will once again be enrolled at the Court unless R15 000 was paid to him via eft. The Policeman further provided him with details of the cases reading paragraphs from the docket and refused to meet the accused when requested.
The criminal case is being registered.
