The Gauteng police together with other law enforcement agencies were out in full swing to ensure that the public of Gauteng are and feel safe as they intensified crime prevention duties and visibility across the province.
Various disruptive operations were conducted simultaneously in all the five districts – Johannesburg, Ekurhuleni, Tshwane, Sedibeng and West Rand with the one in Tshwane District led by the Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Girly Mbele with the support of different law enforcement agencies such as Traffic Department, Tshwane Metro Police Department, Immigration from Department of Home Affairs, Community Police Forum, Tracker and Fidelity.
The integrated multidisciplinary operations resulted in over 1200 people being arrested for various crimes including possession of unlicensed and illegal firearms, drunk and driving, dealing in drugs, possession of suspected stolen vehicles, and undocumented persons amongst others.
The police also seizes dangerous weapons, drugs, liquor, firearms, ammunition, and impounded vehicles with tempered engine numbers.
All the arrested suspects are expected to appear before various Magistrates’ Court from Monday, 11 April 2022.
The community is urged to work together with the police to fight against crime by reporting any criminal activities on Crime Stop Line at 08600 10111 and reporting anonymously on MySaps App.
