Suspects due in court for the illegal possession of ammunition and possession of mandrax

Members of the Provincial Extortion Task Team arrested a 56-year-old male for the illegal possession of ammunition in Sijakela Cresent, Mfuleni on Sunday evening at about 20:00. The members received information about a firearm and ammunition at an identified premises and searched it. While searching the premises the members found 21 rounds of ammunition in a safe. When asked if the male had a license to possess ammunition he could not produce one.

In an unrelated matter members of Kleinvlei Crime Prevention Unit executed a search warrant in Grosvernor Street, High Places, Eersteriver last night at about 20:00. While searching the premises the members confiscated 3000 mandrax tablets. A 36-year-old female was arrested for the possession of mandrax.

Once charged the suspects will make their respective court appearances in the Blue Downs Magistrates court.
