An intelligence-driven operation conducted in the ILembe District led to the successful arrest of a 34-year-old man and the seizure of illegal firearms, ammunition, and stolen property.
On 28 April 2022 at 02:00, a multidisciplinary operation was conducted at Ntshawini in KwaDukuza where police were following information of a suspect who was reported to be in possession of unlicensed firearms. Police proceeded to the identified homestead where the suspect was found. The premises were searched and police found a revolver, rifle, seven rounds of ammunition, R400-00 cash with ink, cards, and till rolls. The suspect was placed under arrest.
The same team proceeded to Dodoza Reserve in Folweni where a bakkie was found abandoned. The preliminary investigation conducted by police revealed that the vehicle was hijacked in Umlazi earlier this month.
The suspect appeared in the KwaDukuza Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
