On 1 May 2022 at 11:30, police officers from Durban Central were busy with crime prevention duties when they received a complaint of business robbery.
Police went to business premises situated on Dr. Pixley Ka Seme Street where they met a person who reported a shooting that occurred at the corner of Joseph Nduli Street and Dr. Pixley Ka Seme Street. Police proceeded to the identified area near the graveyard where a 30-year-old suspect was arrested. The suspect was found in possession of a pistol with five rounds of ammunition. It was established that he had a gunshot wound on his right thigh and it is unknown how he was shot.
He was positively linked to the business robbery and will also be profiled to check if he is linked to other robbery cases reported in Durban and surrounding areas. The suspect was taken to the hospital for medical attention. He is expected to appear before the Durban Magistrates’ Court soon once discharged from the hospital.
