A hit and run suspect on the loose after pedestrian was killed in Bronville

The body of an African male was found lying on the road in Erfdeel road Extension 21 Bronville, Welkom after an unknown motorist hit the victim and never stopped at the accident scene.

On 28 April 2022 members of Bronville SAPS were summoned to the scene in Erfdeel road after residents witnessed a hit and run where the pedestrian was allegedly crossing the road when he was hit by a vehicle and he sustained injuries.

Preliminary investigation revealed that there were two occupants – the driver and a passenger who fled on foot from the scene leaving the vehicle, a brown iTonner Nissan with registration number CKD 821 FS.

The ambulance was called and took the injured man to the hospital where he passed on later. A case of Culpable Homicide has been registered for further investigation.

The deceased was wearing a blue t-shirt, blue jeans, brown shoes, an Oukapi knife and a Samsung cellphone were found next to his body. The deceased could be 1, 6 meters tall, medium body, dark in complexion, had natural black hair and could be between 35 and 40-year-old. The vehicle was towed from the scene and kept in police custody for this Culpable Homicide case.
