Seen in these pictures and videos is the RUSA R44 Helicopter and Crew lifting off at 10:00 this morning and routing to Ogunjini in Osindisweni – KZN for a recovery operation.
The family of a missing adult male, Solomon Shandu contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) after his vehicle was spotted submerged in the Ogunjini River yesterday (Monday). Reaction Officers, Paramedics, and SAPS Search & Rescue entered the water in an attempt to locate his body inside the vehicle without success.
Shandu (52) was employed at the Ethekwini Municipality as a driver. He last made contact with his family after he left a funeral in Harrismith – Free State on Saturday afternoon at approximately 18:00. He was returning to his home in eNtaphuka – Ndwedwe during a storm when his vehicle was swept off a bridge. The Helicopter will be searching inaccessible parts of the river and surrounding areas.
