Neighbour Foils Home Invasion: Dawncrest – KZN

A family of five were held up in their home on Sunlark Drive in Dawncrest – KZN a short while ago (Friday).

Their neighbour arrived at his residence when he noticed an unfamiliar silver vehicle parked on their driveway. As he entered his property he noticed armed men with balaclavas in his neighbours living room. The robbers realised that they had been spotted when they ran out of the house and accosted him at the boundary wall. One of the suspects cocked his firearm and instructed the man not to enter his house. His family heard the commotion and pressed the panic which scared off the suspects.

Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) responded to the residence at approximately 19:34. On arrival Reaction were informed that four suspects had de-railed the driveway gate and held up the family of five. One of the victim’s was a ten year old girl who hid under the dining room table. The suspects ransacked the house in search of jewellery and valuables. They fled with the keys to five vehicles, a TV and other household items when they were disturbed by the neighbour. A live 9mm round was discovered in the yard (picture 3).

The victims were not injured.
