Police operation on essential infrastructure yields success

Early morning operations by the newly established Economic Infrastructure Task Team yielded positive results when the members searched premises in Terreblanch Street, Bonteheuwel, and found copper cables with a total mass of 106 kilograms with an estimated street value of R25 000-00.

A 51-year-old female was arrested and detained on charges of possession of the stolen property and dealing and selling goods without a registration certificate. Essential infrastructure form part of the economy of our province and the South African Police Service will bring any person to book who is found with these copper cables.

Once charged the suspect will make a court appearance in the Bishop Lavis Magistrates court.

In an unrelated matter, the same members arrested a 47 year male in Elsies River on a charge of possession of the presumed stolen property after he was found in possession of burned copper with a mass of 88 kilograms with an estimated street value of R12 300-00.

The suspect will appear in the Goodwood Magistrates court once he has been charged.
