Police launch manhunt after the brutal killing of an elderly woman

The Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Zithulele Dladla has ordered the activation of the 72 hour mobilization plan to track, trace and arrest the killers of the 79-year-old elderly woman. The incident took place on 07 June 2022 at Thembelihle Luphaphasi locality, in Cala.

SAPS members received a call from a member of the community alerting them to a human body that was found at New Rest, not far from where the deceased person stayed. As they responded and on arrival at the scene, they were shown a body which was charred. According to the relatives, she was last seen the previous day evening and sleeping alone in her room.

The motive for the killing is not known at this stage. However, a murder case was registered for investigation and no arrest has been made yet.
