The driver of a white Toyota Tazz was taken in for questioning after he was found in possession of a vehicle suspected to be stolen.
A resident of Tongaat – KZN contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) at approximately 11:39 after he noticed the vehicle in the parking lot of Ballito Lifestyle Center. According to the caller, a Toyota Tazz belonging to him was stolen nearly a month ago and he believed that the vehicle parked at the mall belonged to him.
Reaction Officers proceeded to the shopping centre and on arrival observed the vehicle from a distance. Two males were seated in the car. A registration check confirmed that the number plates belonged to an Opel Corsa which was stolen in Tongaat – KZN.
Reaction Officers approached the vehicle and questioned the occupants. The driver stated that he had purchased the vehicle and 2018 and failed to register it on his name. The license disk expired in 2019. It was confirmed that the car did not belong to the Tongaat resident.
The Umhlali SAPS were called to the scene and on arrival transported the driver to the police station for further questioning.
