Child flees to avoid beating in Waterloo

A 7-year-old girl disappeared after being threatened with a beating for breaking the post box at her home in Waterloo – KZN.

Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call for assistance to locate the child. RUSA members were dispatched to her home and on arrival interviewed her mother who stated that the child was playing in the yard with friends when they broke the post box.

The woman informed her daughter that the father was going to beat her when he arrived. The mother continued with her chores and realised the child was missing at approximately 17:00. The woman raised the alarm and launched a search with members of the community.

As Reaction Officers were in the process of launching a search, the child was located at a neighbor’s house by members of the community.
