A 24-year-old male suspect was arrested by Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department(JMPD) Operations officers for armed robbery at Alexandra Street and Fife Avenue in Berea.
On 23 June 2022, whilst on patrol at Pretoria and Claim Street in Hillbrow, officers were approached by a 50-year-old male alleging that he was robbed at gunpoint by two males who took his cellphone and R1000 cash.
Whilst searching for the suspects, the complainant saw the two culprits who robbed him. Officers approached the two suspects who fled when noticing them. A chase on foot ensued and one suspect was apprehended.
When searched, the complainant’s cellphone, R300 cash, and a knife were found in the suspect’s possession.
The suspect was placed under arrested and detained at Hillbrow SAPS. He is due to appear in court soon.
