A 39-year-old alleged murder suspect handed himself over to SAPS Kwadwesi detectives following the death of his girlfriend on Tuesday, 12 July 2022.
It is alleged that on Monday 11 July 2022 between 22:00 and 23:00, Nompumelelo Mabhoza (40) and her boyfriend were drinking together and later engaged in an argument. Ms. Mabhoza was assaulted with a plank on her head.
After the brawl, they both went to bed. The suspect left the house on Tuesday morning and when he later returned at approximately 18:30, he noticed that she was still in bed but was not responding. The suspect accompanied by his brother reported the incident at SAPS Kwadwesi. Police went to the house in Mdwara Street, Govan Mbeki where they found her, dead with visible injuries to her face.
The suspect was arrested on charges of murder and will appear in the New Brighton Magistrate court on Thursday 14 July 2022.
