An alleged hitman reportedly about to flee to Swaziland, is expected to appear in the Daveyton Magistrates court on Wednesday, 13 July 2022 for killing Constable Ntombizodwa Prudence Masuku attached to the Daveyton SAPS.
He was successfully intercepted and arrested on Sunday, 10 July 2022 by a joint police team that includes Hawks Serious Organised Crime Investigation together with Ekurhuleni Crime Intelligence as well as Johannesburg Metro Police that swiftly reacted to information about a suspect demanding the balance after murdering a police officer.
Members spotted the alleged hitman, driving the vehicle fitting the description provided on Jules Street, Malvern Johannesburg. The 30-year-old was arrested and the vehicle was also seized. Through further investigation, the police also recovered her service firearm.
Constable Ntombizodwa Prudence Masuku (34) was on her way to work on Thursday, 23 June 2022 at about 05:00 accompanied by her husband who was driving her vehicle. They were allegedly accosted by two taxis on Durant road at Mkgoba village and passengers of both taxis allegedly approached the couple and fired several shot at the police officer whilst her husband ran for cover. On his return, he allegedly noticed his wife’s service firearm was missing and reported the matter to the police.
Velu James Masuku (34) was later arrested the same day for his wife’s murder and subsequently appeared before the same court and the matter was postponed to 18 July 2022, where he is expected to appear along with the alleged hired hitman.
