A six-month pregnant female was amongst eight people held up on a property on Heathrow Avenue in Parkgate – KZN.
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) who were attending to an attempted armed robbery on Colchester Crescent were routed to the home invasion at approximately 09:03. On arrival, it was established that five occupants of a silver Toyota Corolla entered the yard and held up six employees of a construction company who were working on the premises.
They then entered the residence and accosted a 50-year-old female who began screaming for assistance. The robbers removed eight gold rings from her fingers and were in the process of removing her gold earrings when the victim offered to hand them over to them in an attempt to avoid injury. During the incident, her 28-year-old pregnant daughter was forced to lay on the floor. Two bedrooms were ransacked. Jewelry and a television were stolen. The robbers fled in a silver Toyota Corolla (registration unknown).
No serious injuries were reported.
