Reaction officer attacked during search for suspect in Canelands

A Reaction Officer was attacked by a suspect who was in the process of stealing valuables from stationary trucks in Canelands – KZN.

Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a tip-off that at least one suspect was seen entering the business premises. The caller was unable to provide any further details.

Reaction Officers were dispatched to the large industrial site and found the doors to several trucks ajar. A search was being conducted when a suspect attacked one of the Officers. A scuffle ensued resulting in the suspect being subdued and restrained. During an interview, the man informed First Responders that he was from KwaMashu – KZN. He was detained at the Verulam SAPS.

The Reaction Officer was not injured.
