A silver Mercedes Benz that was taken in a home invasion was recovered abandoned in Waterloo – KZN.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received information of a Home Invasion in progress in Southridge – Verulam. Reaction Officers responding to the call came under heavy fire from suspects in a white VW Polo that was approaching from the opposite direction. Officers returned fire and shot the suspects vehicle multiple times. The robbers managed to evade arrest during a high speed chase through Ottawa.
Reaction Officers thereafter learned that four suspects held up an elderly male and his son at their home. They stole several house items as well as the victim’s Mercedes Benz. The tracking unit on the vehicle was activated and was emitting signals in Waterloo. Law enforcement Officers converged on the area and the vehicle was recovered abandoned by Reaction Officers.
A RUSA vehicle was shot. Reaction Officers were not injured.
