A man accused of stealing a cellphone was attacked in Parkgate – KZN this afternoon (Saturday).
A resident of Lancaster Way contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) at 13:27 after three males arrived at his property. One of the individuals was bleeding excessively from an injury to his head. The caller informed the controller on duty that the injured male was his employee who was attacked after he was accused of stealing a cellphone.
Reaction Officers and RUSA Medics were dispatched to the complaint. On arrival, Medics provided first aid to the injured male. According to other two males, they were consuming alcohol together at a mutual friends home last night. At some point, one of their cellphones were stolen. They conducted their own investigation and came to the conclusion that the mutual friend had stolen the cellphone.
They confronted the man in Parkgate – KZN this afternoon and began assaulting him with a metal pipe. He managed to break free from his attackers and fled to his employer’s home for assistance.
The two men continued to pursue him. The injured male denied the allegations.
Both parties were transported to the Verulam SAPS after they opted to register criminal cases against each other.
