A 15 year old grade 10 student from a high school in Brindhaven – KZN was apprehended after he robbed a female scholar for her cellphone on Moss Street in Grange – KZN this afternoon (Wednesday).
Two vehicles arrived at Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Headquarters at 15:16. The occupants informed Reaction Officers that they apprehended the teenager after he robbed a female scholar while she was walking on Moss Street. The witnesses approached the suspect when he pointed his weapon at them. They tackled and restrained him. Upon inspection of the firearm they confirmed that it was a replica. They recovered the victim’s cellphone and handed it over to her. They then transported the robber to RUSA Offices.
According to the suspect, he was walking with three friends when they decided to rob the female who they confirmed was a student at a different high school in Brindhaven. His friends fled when members of the community pursued them. They are also grade 10 learners at the same school.
The suspect was handed over to the Verulam SAPS for further investigation.
