On 18 October 2022, the members of Ekurhuleni Flying Squad together with Trio Task Team operationalised intelligence led information about people involved in illegal mining activities and possession of firearms at Daveyton.
The identified house was tactically approached by the members. Two men were found inside and upon searching, two firearms with ammunition were recovered. The suspects were arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition and they will also be processed by Immigration attached to Department of Home Affairs as they are suspected to be undocumented.
A preliminary investigation revealed that one of the firearms was stolen during a house robbery as per a case opened in Vosloorus in 2019.
