Two people were fatally injured and two others were injured during a shooting incident at two different locations in Msunduzi, Ndwedwe – KZN.
A white minibus taxi arrived at Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) HQ. The driver informed Reaction Officers that three relatives were shot by the female’s boyfriend at their home. He could not confirm if the shooter was still on the property.
Reaction Officers and RUSA Paramedics were expedited to the scene but were flagged down by a member of the public approximately 1 kilometer prior to arrival. The individual informed Officers that the driver of a white Toyota Yaris had shot a 37-year-old male in his home.
The man escorted RUSA Members to the residence where the body of a male was discovered on the floor of his bedroom. He sustained a gunshot wound to the head. According to his elderly mother, a man arrived at the residence in search of her son yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon. He alleged that the deceased was having an affair with his girlfriend and he intended on shooting him. The deceased was not at home at the time.
The same individual returned this morning and knocked on the door. When the deceased’s mother realised that it was the same man who threatened to shoot her son, she attempted to block the entrance. He then produced a firearm and forcefully pushed her out of the way. He then entered the room where her son was occupied and shot him in the head. According to witnesses, the suspect drove off in a white Toyota Yaris (registration unknown).
Reaction Officers attending to the initial scene approximately 1 kilometer away confirmed that a 34-year-old female was shot in the head and back. She was pronounced deceased on arrival. Her 55-year-old mother was shot in the chest while her 10-year-old nephew was injured after he was grazed by a bullet in his right arm.
