Last night Police foiled an armed robbery and arrested two suspects aged 36 and 46 years at Griffiths Street, Queenstown
Crime intelligence-driven operation with Queenstown K9, Flying Squad members led Police to arrest two suspects and recovered three firearms and magazines with ammunition. According to the information the two suspects were going to commit armed robbery in one of the business places at Cathcart. Police followed the information they received and spotted the VW Polo with two occupants and stopped it. Upon searching the vehicle they recovered three (3) unlicensed firearms with two magazines and ammunition.
The three unlicensed firearms and the vehicle (grey VW Polo) were confiscated by Police. The duo was immediately arrested and will appear at Queenstown Magistrate Court on 8 December 2022.
The Chris Hani District Commissioner Major General Rudolph Adolph commended the members on the ground for foiling armed robbery and in ensuring that firearms are confiscated and brought the perpetrators to justice.
