Paternity Dispute Leads To Stabbing: Canelands – KZN

Two people were stabbed during a paternity dispute at an informal area popularly known as Hilltop in Canelands – KZN today (Sunday).

Residents contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) at approximately 09:18 reporting the stabbing. All available Reaction Officers were dispatched to the scene.

On arrival, Officers were informed that the couple were consuming alcohol together with other residents when they began arguing. During the argument, the female allegedly informed her 31-year-old boyfriend that their 10-month-old daughter was not his child.

The man became enraged and grabbed a kitchen knife which he used to stab her in her head. Her brother sustained a laceration to his arm when he intervened and disarmed his sibling’s attacker. Residents feared for the child’s safety after the man threatened to murder her as well.

Reaction Officers restrained the suspect, but the victims declined to register a criminal case.
