A 28-year-old suspect is expected to appear before the Wolmaransstad Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 19 December 2022, on a charge of robbery.
The accused’s court appearance stems from his apprehension on Thursday, 15 December 2022, after he and two other suspects allegedly grabbed a bag containing an undisclosed amount of money from a man who was on his way to deposit it at the bank.
The victim immediately informed his employer and with the assistance of community members, the suspect was traced and handed over to the police.
Police investigations are continuing and more arrests are eminent.
The Provincial Commissioner of North West, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena, thanked members of the community for their assistance in apprehending the suspect. He warned the community to exercise caution and avoid carrying a large amount of cash.
