The Provincial Commissioner of the Police in Gauteng Lieutenant General Elias Mawela, joined by the MEC for Community Safety Ms Faith Mazibuko, is leading from the front at the roadblock.
He is joined by TMPD and stakeholders from the Department of Home Affairs, Department of Community Safety, Department of Labour, CPF and patrollers as well as private security Tracker & Fidelity.
Successes achieved so far include the arrest of 77 undocumented persons, seven people for possession of drugs and dagga, one for possession of suspected stolen property, another one for possession of ammunition, one for possession of a stolen vehicle (stolen in March, Bedfordview). Another vehicle that had just been hijacked in Atteridgeville was recovered before it was reported by the victim.
