Eastern Cape law enforcement officers continue with the province’s Arrive Alive Campaigns.

Eastern Cape Transport MEC, Xolile Nqatha proceedings as law enforcement officers continue with the province’s Arrive Alive Campaigns. Special focus was on Speed Chain Operations held at various “SECRET LOCATIONS” across a number of towns in the Amathole District.

Vehicles stopped and checked: 609

The number of fines issued: 159 (offenses range from overloading, driving without a driver’s license, unlicensed vehicle and speeding, etc.)

Monetary value: R 38 750

Illegal foreign national arrested: 6

MEC Nqatha has warned motorists that these kinds of operations will become a norm as the department embarks on an aggressive drive to reduce crashes in the provinces roads beyond just the Festive Season. The Department is set to intensify its operations as we gear up for the departure in the next couple of days, of the many who had been to the province for the Festive Season.
