A 29-year-old man drowned while swimming at the beach in Umhlanga – KZN this afternoon (Tuesday).
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were called out the scene at approximately 21:47. On arrival, Reaction Officers met with the family and friends of the male. They explained that he was swimming with his younger brother and friends after the Life Guards booked off duty. The Phoenix – KZN resident experienced difficulty and he was swept underwater. He did not resurface. The incident occurred at approximately 19:30.
The RUSA R44 Helicopter will lift off tomorrow morning to conduct a search for the victim’s body.
