Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) are currently launching a search for 10-year-old Ahmad Lwandle Hadebe.
The minor was walking with several of his siblings aged between 4 and 13 to a relative’s home in Osindisweni – KZN yesterday when they were approached by a 16-year-old male known to them. The teenager convinced the boy to proceed with him to the Buffeldraai Landfill Site in Buffelsdraai – KZN. The two left together but the minor failed to return home yesterday afternoon.
The boy’s family confronted the 16-year-old today (Tuesday). During questioning, he confirmed that the minor proceeded with him but went astray at the entrance of the landfill site. He alleged that he attempted to search for him but was unsuccessful. The teenager did not inform the missing child’s family of his disappearance and changed his version of events several times during questioning by Reaction Officers. The boy’s mother fears for the safety of her son as the teenager’s mother has a history of bad blood with her family. His mother is a Sangoma and allegedly threatened to bring harm to the family during a previous dispute.
The RUSA Helicopter is being pre-flighted for take-off to assist in the search.
