On April 10th, 2023, a report came in at approximately 2:45 PM of a stationary vehicle on fire. Jan de Villiers, a local volunteer firefighter, was contacted to assist in putting out the blaze. Upon arrival, he found the burning vehicle fully engulfed in flames, but fortunately, all occupants had safely evacuated the vehicle and were unharmed.
According to one of the occupants of the vehicle, they noticed smoke coming from the car and decided to stop and get out before the vehicle burst into flames. It remains unclear what caused the vehicle to catch fire.
At the time of this article, no other emergency services were on the scene, but they have been informed and are en route to the incident.
Jan de Villiers, a local volunteers, quickly got to work extinguishing the fire. Using fire extinguishers and water, they were able to bring the flames under control and prevent them from spreading to nearby vegetation.
While the cause of the fire is still under investigation, this incident serves as a reminder to always be aware of potential hazards and to take necessary precautions to ensure personal safety.
