A resident of Maple Drive in Trenance Park – KZN was overpowered and robbed of a blank replica firearm after he confronted two males sought for a previous theft.
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were called out to the property at approximately 07:48. On arrival, Reaction Officers met with the victim who explained that he confronted two men walking on the road. He believed that they were responsible for previously robbing his spouse. During a confrontation the man removed a blank replica firearm and fired a shot.
The two males undeterred by the sound advanced towards the man who fled into his yard and concealed the weapon in his vehicle. He attempted locking his driveway gate which was forced open.
One of the alleged suspects tackled him and held him to the ground while his accomplice removed the replica firearm from the vehicle. Both suspects thereafter fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction.
The victim was not injured.
