Suspects to appear in court for the illegal possession of precious stones

Members of Operation Restore conducted a roadblock on the N7 in Klawer on Tuesday morning, 02 May 2023, where they stopped and searched vehicles.

The members stopped and searched a Toyota Quantum with its passengers. One of the occupants of the vehicle’s luggage was searched and the members found 344 unpolished diamonds and 1030 unpolished rubies in his luggage.

The 43-year-old man was arrested for the illegal possession of precious stones. The value of the diamonds is yet to be determined.

Once charged he is due to make a court appearance in the Klawer Magistrates Court.
