The Deputy Minister of Police, Mr Cassel Mathale (MP) was today leading a Ministerial Crime Prevention Imbizo, to engage with community members of Mankweng on their crime concerns and policing needs, at Ga-Mothiba outside Polokwane in Limpopo Province.
The main aim of the Imbizo is to encourage partnership between police and the community of Mankweng in the fight against crime. Mankweng is listed in the top list of stations with high contact crimes and the initiative further intends to address the scourge of Gender Based Violence and Femicide ( GBVF).
The Ministerial Imbizo afforded the community with a platform to discuss and engage the SAPS on solutions and interventions to tackle their crime concerns.
Delivering his keynote adress, Deputy Minister Mathale , said ” To the people of Mankweng Ga-Mothiba, it is community responsibility to work together with the Police to defeat crime. Mankweng has been reported to be on on of the top 30 stations in terms of crime in the country. We are going to solve all the challenges with you. We will make sure that Civilian Secretariat note all the concerns, and send them to Major General Matonsi for speedy resolution”.
The Deputy Minister was joined by the Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Home Affairs party, Mr Mosa Steve Chabane(MP), member of the Mayoral Committee Cllr Caroline Mamabolo, Major General Thokozani Mathonsi: Head Office Division Visible and Operations, Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, Head of Department: Transport and Community Safety, Mr. Steve Matjena, South African Police Service senior management from National and Provincial office, representative of Polokwane Municipality, Capricorn District Municipality, Popcru, stakeholders including Community Policing Forum, Community in Blue and the Junior Commissioner.
