The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has praised the Police in Marble Hall for arresting two suspects who were involved in a house robbery and murder of 37-year-old man, at Leeufontein RDP in Marble Hall policing area, on Tuesday 23 May 2023 at around 08:00 in the morning.
According to information, the victim was at his house, when three males came in and demanded his car keys at a gunpoint. They suddenly shot at him before driving off with his vehicle, a white double cab Nissan.
Allegedly, his wife was in the house, she heard gunshots and managed to hide. She immediately informed the Police. They arrived with emergency services and they certified the victim dead at the scene. He was identified as Willem Chauke aged 37 originally from Mozambique.
A task team was established to trace and arrest the suspects. Two of the three suspects aged 33 and 41 were arrested at Leeufontein section, while the third suspect managed to evade arrest. The stolen vehicle, a cellphone and unlicensed firearm with ammunition were recovered during the arrest.
A manhunt for the remaining suspect is still ongoing, anyone with information that can lead to his apprehension should contact Marble Hall Detective Commander Captain Martin Kgomo on 0823189861 or Crime Stop number 0860010111 or the nearest Police Station or MySAPSApp.
The arrested suspects will soon appear before the local Magistrate’s Court for house robbery, murder, possession of stolen motor vehicle, possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
The Police investigations are still continuing.
