Fidelity Services Group responded to an activation on a hijacked vehicle in Umlazi when a SAPS inquiry came through about a suspicious white Renault moving around in the area. The Fidelity team contacted the necessary SAPS members to assist in stopping the vehicle.
It was spotted driving at high speed with a Toyota Etios. As the group approached, the Etios went in one direction, and the driver of the Renault went in the opposite direction. Fidelity SIU and SAPS gave chase, and not long after, the team spotted the driver’s vehicle.
The driver lost control of the car, hitting a sandbank and coming to a sudden stop. He tried to flee the scene, but Fidelity SIU and SAPS apprehended him. Upon inspection of the vehicle, it was found positive on an Umbilo SAPS case.
The suspect and vehicle were taken to Umlazi police station for detaining and further investigation.
